BIOTsphere Index - 2018

The BIOTsphere Index for 2018 was 122, a very slight increase over the 2017 “Index” and promulgated by the intensity of “Global Warming” effects. So slight that it appears control mechanisms are in effect. An “Index” of 100 indicates stability without human interaction that which affects the earth’s respected BIOTsphere. With human activity taken into consideration, the BIOTsphere Index should oscillate between 110 and 120 - which is the historical trend based on a 100-year industrial activity life-cycle. The “Index” did not find a retreat when it reached the 120 set-point, about 50-years ago, indicative to an “Index” on the increase - yet within the confines of the the “Industrial Revolution” norms. So even though on the increase, it is not out-of-control. It is estimated through proprietary algorithms that should the BIOTsphere Index reach the extremes of 125, it would cause weather changes detrimental to the existence of life as we know it. Based on current trends, that is 75-years away if and only if this BIOTsphere Index increase continues unabated. That said, the earth will continue to make changes to its own egocentric ecosystem to combat the effects of human intervention in this life-cycle. Since stability at an “Index” of 100 is impossible as the Earth is in its infancy still, PJW/PBJ scientists believe a BIOTsphere Index goal of 118 is best for the continued existence of mankind. It is also estimated that should the “Index” reach 125, it is then at a point of non-return. So the “BIOTsphere Index” is at the “Code Yellow” status - CAUTION.
