Scapegoat Time?

What is with this Old Fart's Club – a.k.a. the “Do Nothing Congress”? Yesterday, it was the “Gun Violence” free-for-all hearings. Today the air-waves went polluted while John McCain hosted the “I'm a Bastard” hearings – with respect to Chuck Hagel's nomination as Secretary of Defense. And we just went through the boring John “Forbes” Kerry selection trials, as Hillary Poindexter's replacement in the position as Secretary of State. It's those spectacles, it makes her look like Poindexter – from Felix the Cat! Sure appears to be pay back time, for the Obama Team with these nominations, more power to him! And believe it or not, it was Mitt who had the final say with Kerry, as during the Kerry presidential bid back in 2004, it was Romney's BAIN that was behind the Ketchup Lady's man. But there is something terribly wrong with the 113^th Congress that is behind these hearings of low-ball interest. Is it pathetic that the “tail-gating” channels are getting a zillion times more hits then do these current televised Congressional hearings, as matters of other importance rules – it's Super-bowel Weekend! Hey, I gave up on football when Vic was allowed back in the game. But some of us feel differently with respect to priorities and prefer to watchdog for others as others feed the obesity frenzy with this tailgating. So as many eat, others prevail! Look, the 112^th Congress was a complete failure, and with that body of government coming into this season's opener with an approval rating lower then that of Dubya and continued dereliction from sea to shining sea with the strong possibility that all hope is a lost cause, have they given up on us like we have given up on them? See, with the “Gun Violence” hearings, I must first admit that I am not a fan of the NRA's Wayne LaPierre, mostly because he appears to be “fringed” upon and influenced in opinions from Alaska's NRA spokesperson of interest, Wayne Anthony Ross – the guy that believes raping one's own wife may be OK and at the same time NOT opposed to taking away the 1^st Amendment right from the female race, as he has been quoted with words to the effect that if women were to just shut their orifices, there would be less domestic violence! See, he is an attorney that defends the heavy hand of domestic violence intrusion. If your wife isn't a tramp, just get on the wrong side of Mr. WAR in litigation! So I have been critical upon the NRA “mission”, due no longer a respect upon its true “mission” of hunter safety and what appears to be an agenda taken over by lunatics. Yes, Turd Nuggent is a genuine lunatic and shouldn't even be allowed a pea-shooter! But just the other day, finally I have come to grips to accept some words of advise from the gun lobby. This change came about when LaPierre stood up in front of Congress and went head to head with the heads, he stood his ground when it appears the panel was trying to corner his every bowel movement, during heated deliberations over gun control. This was a special hearing due the massacre at Sandy Hook, when a bunch of 6-year old kids were gunned down – another massacre for the history books. Now I am not in line with what the NRA is preaching these days, and I do not have the answers for the violence we see today behind trigger happy mentalists or see any reason as to why the militia is working overtime on “Tilt” with the possibility of an AK-XX assault weapons ban. But I am taking sides against the Congress, likewise is the NRA, and for genuine sane reasoning! What went on with Congress the other day wherein LaPierre was hung out to dry, it was none other than the Old Fart's Club out in force and using the pulpit as a ways to grill, as a means of scapegoating their true responsibilities and trying to shove the NRA into a corner – the power-ball blame game wherein those sitting up high in leather bound chairs as a means to intimidate have the power of persuasion, through “Contempt of Congress”! Answer me or else! The reason today's Congress is so out of touch their responsibility to act in the best interest of America, it may be a lost cause and the number one reason we have such a pathetic mess on our hands, not only with bullets exploding in our pre-schools, but we see it in the exploding destructive economy, as dereliction from on high prevails! We have no one to blame but Congress as to what continues to crash this nation's wellbeing. And now they take their failures and derelictions in front of the public, for the scapegoating scenario. And we pay them for this? See, the opening of this hearing on “Gun Violence” was traumatic, as Gabrielle Giffords was front and center as the poster child of “gun violence”, trying to deliver an opening speech while combating the side effects of a bullet blast to the head. If this didn't bring a tear, then you are declined your citizenship, even if by birth. If this scene did not bring anger, then you are as pathetic as the 112^th Congress and give not a rat's ass about a way forward for this nation that has been on a dead-beat and dead-end street and almost at a rendezvous with the Apocalypse highway. Do you want failure as our motto, instead of the “Land of the Free and Home of the Brave”? Representative Giffords, once so qualified to be a U.S. representative along with a beautiful and talented appearance that was breathing a breath of freshness into America government and crotchety politics, a women who could have become a U.S. President with way more qualifications and stamina then Hillary. Well too see what is left today, it is a but a sad case wherein Congress is at blame. NOT the NRA, NOT those bent on a militia attitude, but 100% of the blame this tragedy and those along the way with wayward bullets culminating today with the massacre at Sandy Hook, if we need to place blame, it is with the Congress. Now due things still not totally understood and almost to the pandemic stage here in the heartland, Giffords was gunned down a few years ago in a senseless and deliberate attack after her picture was broadcast in the cross-hairs of a hunting rifle, in a blog that found a Sarah Palin following. Why, because she showed some sense of responsibility her sworn duty and was what we need today to fix what has gone terribly wrong and was on track to make a difference. And when the smoke from the attacker's guns ablaze went silent, and the muzzle blasts ceased, it was that time wherein Congress had a duty to perform - as it was now one of their own mowed down in cold blood during the pinnacle of life's trials and tribulations in politics. Once again said, Giffords already had my vote for the 1^st female U.S. President. But that lone and crazed gunman changed the course of history, so sad! So now, some many years latter wherein Gabrielle finds it tough even to recite an opening response, wherein she has but a few words because her brain remains shattered by an assault bullet, Congress feels it necessary to have these hearings only to pacify themselves in efforts to cast the blame upon someone else - for their dereliction to NOT submit. So the NRA is that vulnerable target. And back then when “OUR” Congress should have acted and formulated some semblance of “gun control” before it was too late like we see occurring today - with mass murdering of 6-year olds - the NRA had succumbed to reasonable expectations upon background checks. But now that a cowardly Congress looks for a scapegoat, the NRA is not bending over. The Congress failed to act when they had the chance. The reason they went coward, because of the gun manufacturing lobby that pads the back pocket, to feed that war chest for re-election – so they can continue on that “easy street” to success and at the same time continue to be derelict their sworn duty to protect “American” interests. So today with the Sandy Hook, today with another apocalyptic trigger happy massacre, Congress comes front and center in their pin-stripes and tries to convince the voters that they give a rat's ass, they don't – as the the bad breath of deceit lives on and fills the halls up on that “Hill”. Bottom-line, Congress should be the guilty so grilled, not the industry, not the victims' family members, not the police, they should be grilling themselves. And when that grilling is done and they then see that they have been so derelict, then maybe it is time for the Sargent of Arms to bring in the ball & chains, as they deserve nothing else then a long vacation in solitary confinement - for letting us down. Yet, it continues to be more of the same because we as a nation have been rear-ended and have become complacent and scared to make “bad” things go away! With that said, happy football and we can look forward to nothing then the 113^th going even lower then their predecessors, and they can only go so low, before the bottom falls out - which seems to have been their plan all along. When we find a Congress that is remorseful, not afraid to admit that they have let down America, when they fall into line and dereliction that duty to defend the Constitution is no longer a reality, then we may see a reversal and My Country 'Tis of Thee will reign forevermore “FREE”. Thank you Gabrielle, for getting up the courage to face your attackers, those men that think they are statesmen and hiding behind that Red, White & Blue shield!
